What’s cooking?

December 23, 2009 Ghene Leave a comment

Christmas is here soon and have you decided what to cook yet?

For us, we just finished our late Christmas shopping and nailed down the basics.

Our menu includes;

Starters: Vegetarian spring rolls

Main & Side Dish: Honey Glazed Turkey with cheese topped roasted potatoes, courgettes, tomatoes and pesto gratin.Hubby got some Yorkshire pudding just in case…

Back-up main: Embutido, a Filipino mince pork dish with vienna sausages, sweet pickles, raisins and spices.

Desserts: Christmas Pudding, Vanilla Ice cream and Custard.

Drinks: Red wine; someone here likes St Emilion (Diablo is held as backup), our guest love Baileys and the kids have Apple juice. I did not forget mine – we have a box of Coca Cola in the fridge.

Nothing too fancy this year.

Vegetarian spring roll. It’s always different everytime I make my springrolls – i have difficulty following instructions. :-P

This is my chicken a couple of years back. I am using the same recipe but will marinate the turkey for a day first then stuff it with some really nice things.

Stuffed potatoes covered with cheese! It will be accompanied by Courgettes- Pesto gratin. Yum yum!

And we will finish with the traditional Christmas pudding.

We just got ours from Sainsburys but we do love ours with custard and vanilla ice cream.

Hopefully, the glaze will be perfect this year for a photo finish. That chicken in 2007 is selling rather well as a stock photo. :-D

Anyway, I hope that you got your Christmas dinner sorted out as well as ingredients for the left over later.  Have a great Christmas and looking forward to a wonderful New Year!

Mr Jack, our snowman

After playing with m1 & m2, I got them to help me make Mr Jack. I finished working on him when the kids were eating.

Mr. Jack have blue eyes and red nose and wears a tweed scarf and newsboy hat with a ladybird button (both handmade by me).

it’s summer time!

May 16, 2008 Ghene Leave a comment

It is this time of the year when you see lots of flowers and take gazillions of flower photos. Well, I did try not to do that as I am economising on disk space. I do not want my external drives to fill up fast and not have enough space to store the important photos — those that sell :)

I love it when its sunny but when it rains, it is just grrrr – I can see my garden’s enemies crawling towards my precious plants in hope to devour their healthy leaves. I still couldn’t get over my witnessing them eating my primroses last year… yuck. The worse thing is, I can’t put anything (slug and killers) in the garden yet, as I will be hosting a birthday party and will be releasing children out in the garden.

Anyways, I will post a photo of my garden soon… my organic vegetable patch. Can you believe just a small area in your garden can produce a couple of kilos of potatoes?  Well, I did say in my previous post that I planted other plants as well.

– waiting for the sun –

may smiles

First, I thank you all for your birthday greetings, gifts, flowers, wishes, cards, hugs and poke. I wish I could’ve organised a party for us to get together. Maybe next year, who knows, I might be able to afford a big one! :D

May really started out to be a very busy time with all the photography sessions to do, which I am enjoying immensely, plus all the books to read (yup, about photography), monsters to chase and photos to edit… *sigh* I miss just wandering out and about with the lot of suspicious photographers ;-) carrying big cameras in London. Anyways, I am really looking forward to a nocturnal adventure in Paris. With 30+ people who are coming, there is no reason to be scared.

Also, i’ve started researching on the next nightly flights for the London photographers… only a few know the next stop but this should be a very interesting one. I hope you look forward to it as well.

I’ve recently received booking for a wedding and I am really excited about it!

My garden is looking better than winter and even better than last year’s wet summer. The grass are taking root, another bunch of potatoes are growing nice and healthy plus the mint, parsely, tomatoes, onions, garlic, sage and rosemary. I know, I know… there is something called the grocers but I do enjoy gardening and being able to provide food grown in my little garden is really nice.

My website (www.gsnowdon.com) will undergo another update very soon showing my hubby’s java skills. All the nightouts I’ve allowed him to is paying off :D — a worthy investment ! As I’ve posted earlier, it will hopefully become an All-in-One site where my portfolio can be seen, information easility edited, proofinf with online-ordering and so on. .. The more we get to the completed site, the more impatient I become. grrr
