Swatch…

December 17, 2007 Ghene Leave a comment

I’ve been buying Swatch watches since I am allowed to buy my stuff (early teens). I still have some of my old ones around, I can’t seem to part from them :) I think I’ll get me some batteries for them. Love all the funny/cheeky Swatch watches I received as well.

My all time fave is the Swatch Irony Medium Ciel Clair which is what I have at the moment and mine have a broken glass. :( ( It went through a lot of bashing, swimming and a lot more rough handling and it is still ticking. Even if I love my watch to bits (it rarely left my wrist), I think it is time to scrub it clean and polish it so it can rest in its case. Am currently eyeing the Irony Chronos Collection and the Wheeling, Free Chain and Wealthy Star models looks pretty. There is also the Irony Medium Ciel Clair Violet which is nice but.. I already have pink! So that will stay as a maybe ;)

Just checked on London Swatch Kiosks and I think I might pop in there soon…. If you’re into pretty, good quality and affordable watches, then I highly recommend them. They have a lot of models to choose from (I’m an Irony girl ;) ).

Our handmade passport cover is now available on www.handigift.com and on etsy.

Description:

An elegant way to cover your number 1 travel companion. This is handmade with beautiful printed fabric, high quality shielding fabric and cotton lining.

We use high quality shielding fabric that is based with a rugged plain weave nylon (for superior strength and handling), plated with Nickel and Copper (for excellent shielding, low corrosion, and low toxicity), then coated on one side with conductive acrylic (less than 0.1 Ohm/sq) plus a hot melt (203° – 338°F) adhesive with polyethylene barrier on the other side (for excellent moisture resistance, washability. This shielding fabric is hot ironed to the cotton lining.

Passport Cover offers an amazing shielding performance: 80 dB (99.99%) at 100 MHz; 100 dB (99.99%) at 1 GHz. Will also block virtually all ELF & VLF electric fields. Because of the plastic coatings, it doesn’t breathe well and direct contact may cause skin irritations.

Features:

Exterior: 100% cotton fabric
Interior: Cotton and Special RFID Block Fabric
Size : One-size

* All our products are created in a pet-free and smoke free environment.
** Dry clean for best results
***Due to limited stock of Shielding Fabric, Passport Cover with RFID Block are shipped 21-30 days after purchase. You will be contacted when your order is ready

Test:

As stated in previous blog, this shield was tested in the London Underground. The Oyster cards uses RFID so I just put the card inside my handmade passport cover and voila it is ready for the test.  And the result? It did not read the card inside my passport cover. Another test is using RFID enabled passes to offices and same result. The readers did not read the cards inside the passport cover.

Availability:

The passport covers are currently available in one fabric – Blue Love. Other prints will be available very soon for you to choose from. Please allow 21-30 days for your passport cover to be made and shipped.

Borough Market

November 18, 2007 Ghene 2 comments

After hearing my complaints about Sainsburys and Waitrose’s lack of rabbit meat, someone suggested I go to the market. But which one? Well, we saw that there is Borough Market just in front of the London Bridge station (Jubilee Line). I must say that the rabbit meat is well packed and fresh there as well as venison, quail, pheasant and other game. So I am already happy finding something I thought I would not find in London (rolls the eyes).

Hunting the elusive rabbit…

It is quite shocking to discover that there are NO rabbit meat in Sainsburys. I was told they stopped selling that years ago. How will I cook my favourite French meals? Originally I planned to cook Lapin Provencal with Grilled Tomatoes. Seems I’ll need to tweak the recipe and cook Poulet Provencal with Grilled Potatoes.

Surely London have at least a couple of butcher who sell rabbits. No?
